I am reading the Da vincci code (few chapters before I finish the entire book)
Anyone read it yet?
Any comments?
Would you advise your friends to read it?

I am not yet finish but the accusations I have read so far states that our bible is incomplete and was intended to be that way.
That Jesus is a mortal prophet and not John 3:16 (only beggoten Son).
I would like to hear your thoughts on this one please.

Hi Newbie,

I haven't read the book but I can tell you from what I have heard there are many inconsistencies. Let's start with the Last Supper. The table described in the Bible was in the shape of a U. If Jesus was next to Mary then there would have to be the 12 plus 1. There is a book out presents many more errors. (The Truth about the Da Vinci Code)

Revelation 22:18 "For I testify unto every man that heareth the words of the prophecy of this book, If any man shall add unto these things God shall add unto him the plagues that are written in this book: And if any man shall take away from the words of the book of this prophecy, God shall take away his part out of the book of life."

I would go online and see reveiws on it... they have another book called; the davincci code cracked, or something along those lines... my advice would be not to read any books like this until you have reviews on them from others... Just like with other "Christian" books, although they may be intended for goodness, but good intentions only go so far... from my own experience... definitly get reviews on any of the books that you read. To much of the devils devices out there for innocent minds like ours to be consumed with.

Newbie,

I have read it. I loved the story in the book, but the main thing to keep im mind as far as facts are concerned is that it is a work of FICTION!! If you are confused by some of the issues you read in its pages, I would like to suggest that you research the topics off-line. The reason I suggest that you read printed material rather than a webpage is simple: books have to be approved by their publishing company to be printed (most of the time!). In order to be printed as a work of non-fiction, most publishing houses have "fact checkers" to make sure that the information is viable and reliable for the public to read. You can read hundreds of webpages on-line, but they are not responsible for misrepresented material like an author and/or a publishing house would be.
ALso, don't be afraid to speak with church officials. With any luck, they will be able to take you step by step through the issues you are troubled by and logically explain them.
I seem to remember a friend of mine telling me that the author of The Da Vinci Code was a member of some kind of "almost christian" faith whose center of worship is focused on christ being the wrong savior. I seriously doubt that statement holds any merit. I suppose that could serve as an example of how easy it is to spread false teachings! Good luck sifting through the lies. I hope that you find the truth! Best Wishes-Alexa W.
PS Let me know if I can help you find answers...I'm happy to help ya'

I stand before you to stand behind you to tell you something I know nothing about

There is a paper that speaks to the Da Vinci Code, Da Vinci DE-CODED at the following address:

http://www.xenos.org/essays/davinci_decoded.pdf

(You can find other resources, real media lectures, outlines, statment of faith, etc. at the root address.)

I would have posted excerpts from it but it would have made the post exceeding in length. The paper speaks to some of the false claims written in the Da Vinci Code, primarily speaking to the authenticity of the New Testament.

quote:
Perhaps a novel like The Da Vinci Code is so appealing because it puts together a seemingly plausible alternative to the traditional reading of the Christian Gospel. It gels an understanding that reassures us that our sensitivities to cultural diversity, our distaste for anyone’s “truth” winning over anyone else’s, is right. But the novel only succeeds to the extent that, through an engaging story line, it hides the substantial evidence supporting the authenticity of the New Testament gospels.

The paper is nine pages and cites a number of bible scholars (e.g. C.S. Lewis, McDowell, Van Voorst)on points concerning why the gnostic gospels were not included in the New Testament, how the early church "fathers" (not Constantine) chose and authenticated the books that are included in the New Testament Canon (had to be written by an eyewitness of Christ, an apostle), and how pagan symbols, dates, and rituals became a part of Christian tradition.

Why not attempt to dispel some of the other false claims - like Mary Magdelene and Jesus bein sexual partners? Well, if you take away the source of those claims (gnostic writings), then you have no basis to make those claims.
